Thornton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 16-6 to Aurora Central. That's two games in a row now that Thornton has lost by exactly ten runs.
Ethan Stehle put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Diego Aquino was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ian Ruiz was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
As for Aurora Central, they moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Like Thornton, Aurora Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Anderson Rodriguez. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andres Aguillera, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Victor Quijada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornton will welcome Englewood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Aurora Central, they will be playing at home against Overland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
