Basketball Recap: Austin Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Austin won the last time they faced Hauser and Brynn Owens did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 72-44 victory over the Jets with plenty of help from Owens, who shot 45% from the field en route to 29 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Several Jets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was June Berkenstock, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Berkenstock is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Williams, who posted 14 points.

The win made it two in a row for Austin and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 29.5 points. As for Hauser, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Austin has already played their next game, a 55-38 victory against Springs Valley on the 29th. As for Hauser, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Indianapolis Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th.
