The Rivercrest Colts will head out on the road to take on the Marmaduke Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rivercrest has four straight wins, Marmaduke has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rivercrest gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Harrisburg 65-36 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Rivercrest has posted against Harrisburg since January 25, 2021.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rivercrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destiny Burks, who scored 25 points along with six steals. Burks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mykayla Banks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals.
Marmaduke suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-24 loss at the hands of Riverside. While losing is never fun, Marmaduke can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Riverside is ranked 30th).
Rivercrest has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Marmaduke, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
Rivercrest lost to Marmaduke on the road by a decisive 83-66 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Rivercrest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
