It was a good run, but The Dawson Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Shadow Creek by a score of 25-23. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Dawson was just barely outscored by Shadow Creek in the second.
Despite the loss, Dawson still got an impressive performance from Gage Greene, who threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Among those leading the charge was Cobey Sellers, who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Chris Stewart was another key contributor, picking up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Dawson's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Shadow Creek, their victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Dawson will face off against Alief Elsik at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alief Elsik will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Dawson is ranked 136th). As for Shadow Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alief Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
