The biggest upset of the week belonged to Yoakum, who defeated 183rd ranked Cuero, 41-20. Tre'vontae Hights threw for 108 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 182 yards in the win.
The Bulldogs scaled the state rankings by moving to 353 from 439 this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region IV District 26. Yoakum climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Gobblers 41-20.
Hights put up the best numbers through the air as Brent Kornegay's team beat Cuero. Hights' favorite target this week was Timmy Blakeney, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, La Grange's Dillon Davis and Wes Scott have proven to be a lethal combination. Davis has thrown for 707 yards this season, while Scott has 16 catches for 335 yards. The Bulldogs' Hights leads the league in rushing yards with 915.
Hights of the Yoakum is only 85 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Hights has rushed for 915 yards on 118 carries so far this year.
The Leopards' offense has recorded 235 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Giddings has permitted only 103 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when La Grange takes on the Buffaloes. As it stands, Matt Kates' team is in first, while Giddings is in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Leopards take on Chris Jones' team. La Grange has allowed 129 points this season, while the Buffaloes have given up 103. The Leopards allowed 13 points last week as they defeated Smithville.
La Grange led 3A Region IV District 26 in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on the Tigers.
