The Brookfield Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-39 to New Fairfield. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brookfield of the 48-47 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Brookfield still got an impressive performance from Shane Weber, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 59% of Brookfield's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brendan Longworth, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for New Fairfield, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield will take on Masuk at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Masuk is ranked 72nd, while Brookfield is ranked 60th). As for New Fairfield, they will be playing at home against Valley Regional at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Valley Regional is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
