Basketball Game Preview: Platteview Trojans vs. Duchesne Cardinals

Platteview has gone 8-2 against Duchesne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Platteview Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Duchesne Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Platteview will be strutting in after a win while Duchesne will be coming in after a defeat.

Platteview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Ralston 66-16 on Thursday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.

Platteview can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn Stehlik, who posted eight points and 13 boards, and Kady Vanosdall, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Vanosdall a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Rylee Tex, who put up seven points and three steals.

Platteview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Duchesne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 64-42 to Gretna. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-12.

Duchesne's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Platteview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Platteview was able to grind out a solid win over Duchesne in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 56-45. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Duchesne's June Mullen, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points.
