Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Swampscott Big Blue, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 28-0 loss at the hands of Lynnfield. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Swampscott couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lynnfield can attribute much of their success to Niccolo Antidormi, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also caught a touchdown. Antidormi was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Joey Cucciniello did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards.
Swampscott's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Lynnfield, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swampscott will take on St. Mary's at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (St. Mary's is ranked 88th, while Swampscott is ranked 107th). As for Lynnfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hudson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
