In other batting news, Leo Alvarado was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Cristian Cooper was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
As for Indian River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.
Like Salem, Indian River also got a great game from a two-way player: Griffin Hendricks. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Hendricks a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Ming was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Jernigan, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Salem will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Green Run at 5:00 p.m. The Sundevils are facing the Stallions at the right time seeing as the Stallions are stuck on a 19-game losing streak. Indian River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
