Horseshoe Bend extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 13-2. Everything went their way against the Idaho City Wildcats as they made off with a 16-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kimber Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinzee Ranft, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trin Catherman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs.
Horseshoe Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Idaho City only posted an OBP of .385.
As for Idaho City, they now have a losing record of 10-11. They have struggled against Horseshoe Bend recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
On Idaho City's side, Kennedy Smith and Bailey Vigeant stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Vigeant went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Helmick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Horseshoe Bend has already played their next game, a 17-2 loss against Glenns Ferry on the 8th. As for Idaho City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 19-9 victory against Wilder on the 8th.
