Fairview got a great performance from Oliver Peterson as he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, Peterson posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Espiritu-Niswonger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Monarch's offense. They came up short against Erie on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The Coyotes just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Landon Resch was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Monarch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Hutchings, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Hutchings snagged this season.
The victory got Fairview back to even at 4-4. As for Monarch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Fairview's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Monarch, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fairview continue to outrun the ball?
Fairview was able to grind out a solid win over Monarch when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coyotes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
