After five games on the road, Fyffe is heading back home. The Fyffe Red Devils and the Sand Rock Wildcats will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Fyffe suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Plainview 74-26. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fyffe in their matchups with Plainview: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Sand Rock unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. The matchup between Sand Rock and Spring Garden wasn't particularly close, with Sand Rock falling 64-46. While losing is never fun, Sand Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Spring Garden is ranked 14th).
Defeat or not, Sand Rock got some senior leadership from Kennedy Henderson and Katelyn St.clair. Henderson scored ten points along with five rebounds, while St.clair. scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Handy, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Fyffe's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Sand Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Fyffe was taken down by Sand Rock 76-31 when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of St.clair, who scored 36 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Now that Fyffe knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
