Basketball Recap: Northwestern Piles Up the Points Against Kell

Northwestern is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Kell. The Northwestern Bulls blew past the Kell Longhorns, posting an 89-55 victory. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 34 points or more this season.

Calvin Russell Jr. was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 10 en route to 22 points along with six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiro Smith, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

The win made it two in a row for Northwestern and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for Kell, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will host Evans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Northwestern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 75.9 points per game this season. Kell and Alexander will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Kell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Alexander likes a good challenge.
