It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Madison Academy Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past the Bulldogs with a 48-43 victory. Madison Academy's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Madison Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenyon Cherry led the charge by rushing for 172 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Cherry has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Williams, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Madison Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Geraldine, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.
Madison Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Mobile Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Mobile Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 587 points over their last 14 contests. Geraldine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
