Basketball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Greenbrier Christian Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 46-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Broadwater Academy Vikings by a score of 34-31 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Gators have suffered since February 8, 2024.

Despite the loss, Greenbrier Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Katelyn Balka dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. Balka is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kaylee Harmon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Greenbrier Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Broadwater Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tatum Watson out in front who posted eight points. Kacey Ford was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Greenbrier Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4. As for Broadwater Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

StoneBridge will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Greenbrier Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Broadwater Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Portsmouth Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Broadwater Academy is facing Portsmouth Christian at the right time seeing as Portsmouth Christian is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
