Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison). They blew past the Spruce Mountain Phoenix 20-13 on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Landon Dunham made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Madison got a massive performance out of Jayden Horton, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. What's more, Horton posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bobby Vigue, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
