Basketball Recap: St. Stephens Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

St. Stephens extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 6-0. They blew past the Draughn Wildcats 75-54. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-23.

St. Stephens was led to victory by Alan Wilson and Jachavis Sherrill. Wilson made all 7 shots he took to post 17 points along with five assists and four steals, while Sherrill shot 73% from the field en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Those 17 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Chatham Donley was another key player, putting up 12 points.

St. Stephens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

As for Draughn, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. On the bright side, the 54- point performance marked their highest-scoring contest to date.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayden Lewis, who posted 14 points and five boards. Lewis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Chrisco, who had nine points and eight rebounds.

St. Stephens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 79-39 defeat against Hickory on the 3rd. As for Draughn, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-61 loss against Foard on the 5th.
