Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Bluff Tigers vs. Sand Rock Wildcats

Cedar Bluff and Sand Rock are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cedar Bluff Tigers challenge Sand Rock Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cedar Bluff has three straight victories, Sand Rock has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cedar Bluff is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Sand Rock with a sharp 21-10 win on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Kuper Bradley and Caleb Edmondson did most of the damage at the plate: Bradley scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Edmondson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave Edmondson a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Samson Mallett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Cedar Bluff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in three consecutive games.

Sand Rock's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cedar Bluff, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cedar Bluff has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .563.
