The Upper Merion Area Vikings''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 36-14 loss at the hands of Boyertown. Upper Merion Area lost against Boyertown in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 20-19 score last time.
Cole Yesavage had an outrageously good game for Boyertown as he rushed for 279 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Yesavage really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Boyertown also got a significant boost from Jason Oakes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Another reason for the win was Boyertown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Upper Merion Area's QB won't forget Nicholas Panarello anytime soon given Panarello sacked him four times.
Upper Merion Area's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Strath Haven and 10-2 Pope John Paul II (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.7% over those games). As for Boyertown, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Upper Merion Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Boyertown also has no future games currently scheduled.
