Ogden extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Morgan Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Rodrigo Torres was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last five contests. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Xavier Aldous made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Easton Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Morgan, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 13, 2025.
On Morgan's side, Easton Venz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. Venz also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Trojans are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Morgan let Owen Gilson and Kanyon Leonelli run wild. Gilson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Leonelli got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gilson has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Logan Wayman, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ogden will welcome Logan at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morgan, they will host Ben Lomond at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Scots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
