While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Colonie Central is ranked third).
Despite the defeat, Troy saw an underclassman step up: Stetson Merritt scored 24 points. That was a full 47.1% of Troy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Legend Merritt was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Troy has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Colonie Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Guilderland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Colonie Central, they will be playing at home against Averill Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonie Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Averill Park likes a good challenge.
