The Islands Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. Their tough 76-56 loss to Burke County might stick with them for a while. Islands has not had much luck with Burke County recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, Islands got some senior leadership from Braylen Butterworth and Jordan Cave. Butterworth scored 18 points along with eight rebounds, while Cave. scored 15 points. Cave hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Deondrae Hills, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Burke County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryce Wimberly, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Wimberly is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was La'Quinton Morgan, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Islands has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Burke County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
