The Solebury Spartans will head out on the road to face off against Westtown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Solebury made easy work of Cristo Rey Philadelphia and carried off a 12-5 win.
Obie Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Taylor was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bering Read was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those hits were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cam Conrad, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Westtown not only won last Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 6, 2024 (when they won 15-5). They blew past Collegium Charter 17-8. The victory continues a trend for Westtown in their matchups with Collegium Charter: they've now won three in a row.
Like Solebury, Westtown also got a great game from a two-way player: Aidan Eager. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Eager was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Forrest Mojica looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Young, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Francisco Benbow was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Westtown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Collegium Charter struck out 13 times.
Westtown's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. As for Solebury, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
