Richardson got a good showing from  Cal Attel, who   tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. What's more,  Attel posted five  strikeouts, the most he's  had since back in April of 2024.
 On the hitting side, Richardson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jake Hayes, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
Richardson's  defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-8-1. As for Irving, their  win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-12-1.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Richardson is set to  take on  their familiar foe Nimitz  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (Richardson 3.8, Nimitz 3.1) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Irving will  square off against  rival Pearce  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
