The Cedaredge Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Pagosa Springs Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cedaredge has 12 straight victories, Pagosa Springs has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cedaredge gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Roaring Fork by a score of 10-6.
Brady Cooper made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Rupp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rylan Brooks, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Cedaredge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs lost 15-5 to Montezuma-Cortez on Monday.
Kyler Henderson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Cedaredge pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.9 runs. As for Pagosa Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cedaredge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pagosa Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cedaredge couldn't quite get it done against Pagosa Springs in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
