The Monessen Greyhounds will head out on the road to take on the Jeannette Jayhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monessen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past California, posting a 90-59 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Monessen sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Meanwhile, everything went Jeannette's way against Riverview on Friday as Jeannette made off with a 75-54 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Jeannette.
Jeannette got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayce Powell out in front who scored 23 points. Markus McGowan was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Monessen pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Jeannette, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Monessen was able to grind out a solid victory over Jeannette when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 69-59. Does Monessen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jeannette turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
