The Springfield Tigers stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by McKinley at home to the tune of 42-15. Given Springfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while McKinley is ranked 782nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Springfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jameka Brungard, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kendall Maughan, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Springfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. As for McKinley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Mineral Ridge at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Mineral Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for McKinley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wellsville at 5:30 p.m.
