Beaufort Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Williamsburg Academy Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Beaufort Academy walked away with it. They walked away with a 25-13 victory over Orangeburg Prep on Friday.
Beaufort Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxen Porter, who rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Beaufort Academy also got a significant boost from Dietrich Shuford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
Beaufort Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Tres Delaney and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Williamsburg Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Spartanburg Christian Academy 46-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Williamsburg Academy, who have now won seven contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Camden Moore got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards. Moore's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Another player making a difference was Conrad Balder, who threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Beaufort Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Williamsburg Academy, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Beaufort Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 268.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Williamsburg Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 267.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
