Southampton Academy has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Monday. They will square off against the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints at 7:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Southampton Academy lost to Rock Church at home by a decisive 60-44 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Southampton Academy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Rock Church is ranked 137th).
Despite the loss, Southampton Academy saw an underclassman step up: G Applewhite scored 12 points. The matchup was Applewhite 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was S Vick, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy didn't have too much trouble with Camden County on the road on Thursday as they won 68-52.
StoneBridge's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Southampton Academy's loss dropped theirs to 1-2.
Southampton Academy was taken down by Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 59-32 in their previous meeting back in December of 2016. Can Southampton Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
