The Hanahan Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Battery Creek Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hanahan has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30.
Last Tuesday, Hanahan came up short against Beaufort and fell 48-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hanahan in their matchups with Beaufort: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jonah Auckenthaler, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 44.7% of Hanahan's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Muirheid, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Battery Creek ended up a good deal behind Philip Simmons on Tuesday and lost 57-38.
Hanahan has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Battery Creek, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Hanahan lost to Battery Creek on the road by a decisive 66-47 margin when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can Hanahan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
