On Monday, North Hills Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Rockwell Christian School. North Hills Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Hills Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Merrell, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Merrell scored a full 29.5% of North Hills Christian's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Kibler, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Rockwell Christian School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylie Smith out in front who scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Rockwell Christian School's points. Savannah Basinger was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
North Hills Christian's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Rockwell Christian School, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
