Even though the Jay Mustangs have not done well against the Warren Warriors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Jay came out on top against Warren by a score of 39-28. Given Jay's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Warren is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sincere Jackson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Jay's points. Another player making a difference was Ny'ashia Barnes, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Jay pushed their record up to 20-10 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jay will challenge Stevens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warren, they will head out on the road to take on Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
