The El Rancho Dons will face off against the Mark Keppel Aztecs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. El Rancho is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, El Rancho came up short against La Serna and fell 8-4.
El Rancho saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melony Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Jaelene Carrillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mark Keppel won against Montebello last Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Thursday. The Aztecs' pitcher stepped up to hand San Gabriel a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Robyn Guitron made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Avigail Navarro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Nevaeh Saldivar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Mark Keppel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mark Keppel has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for El Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Rancho hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Mark Keppel struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Rancho suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Mark Keppel in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will the Dons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
