The West Florence Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Lakewood Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Florence will be strutting in after a victory while Lakewood will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, West Florence was able to grind out a solid win over Carolina Forest, taking the game 61-51. The win was just what West Florence needed coming off of a 75-54 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Lakewood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. The matchup between Lakewood and Andrew Jackson wasn't particularly close, with Lakewood falling 60-41. While losing is never fun, Lakewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Andrew Jackson is ranked 51st).
West Florence's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lakewood, they bumped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
West Florence beat Lakewood 78-66 in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Will West Florence repeat their success, or does Lakewood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
