The McClatchy Lions will venture away from home to challenge the West Park Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with McClatchy sitting on five straight victories and West Park on four.
On Tuesday, McClatchy made easy work of Cordova and carried off a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jeneyse Morales was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Jayeliza Rogers was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
McClatchy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Park). Everything went their way against Grant on Tuesday as they made off with a 34-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.
Dominique Basubas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Basubas was also big at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, West Park let Jenna Missio and Kayla Bowles run wild. Missio went 3-for-4 with five runs, five RBI, and one double, while Bowles went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That double was Missio's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mady Schultze, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
McClatchy pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for West Park, their record now sits at 8-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McClatchy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like West Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McClatchy took their win against West Park in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
