Basketball Recap: 14 Straight Home Wins for Northeastern

Northeastern had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took down the Connersville Spartans 56-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Payne, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points. Sam White was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Connersville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jadan Peterson, who shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points, and Hunter Allen, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Grady Simpkins also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Northeastern pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Connersville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Northeastern and Connersville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northeastern will face off against Hagerstown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season. As for Connersville, they will take on Hamilton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hamilton Heights' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
