The Hoosic Valley Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Mechanicville Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoosic Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Hoosic Valley will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Emma Willard on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Jesters 24-6. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Jesters recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lizzy Powers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Powers was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Izzy Finkle and Lainey Bochette did most of the damage at the plate: Finkle went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Bochette got on base in three of her six plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Finkle a new career-high. Ashleigh Herrington was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Hoosic Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Mechanicville was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Greenwich by a score of 4-2.
Mechanicville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Pane, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Pane is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Mechanicville now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hoosic Valley, their record is now 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hoosic Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mechanicville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hoosic Valley might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Mechanicville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
