The Crest Chargers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Ashbrook Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Crest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully the Greenwave like a good challenge.
After soaring to a 21-point win in their last game, Crest came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Huss by a score of 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Crest had strong showings from Aj Adams, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, and Lyrik Pettis, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was D'various Surratt, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Ashbrook pushed their score all the way to 71 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 72-71 to Kings Mountain. It was the first time this season that Ashbrook let down their fans at home.
Crest's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Ashbrook, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.
Everything went Crest's way against the Greenwave when the teams last played back in January as the Chargers made off with a 77-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
