The Hitchcock County Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They managed a 51-45 victory over Rawlins County. This was payback for Hitchcock County, who suffered a 53-24 loss the last time these two teams met.
Hitchcock County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raegan Hagan, who scored 15 points along with five assists. The matchup was Hagan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Byanka Tyan, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abby Micek, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Micek scored a full 35.6% of Rawlins County's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kayte Shively was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Hitchcock County's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Rawlins County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Hitchcock County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. Southern Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Rawlins County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
