The Socorro Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Bosque Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Socorro is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Socorro was beaten by the Cardinals 59-8. Socorro has not had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Bosque scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Hozho Academy by a score of 54-44. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Bosque as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Bosque's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lena Chavez led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Chavez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Capps, who scored 16 points.
Socorro's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Bosque, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Everything came up roses for Socorro against the Bobcats when the teams last played back in January of 2020 as the squad secured a 62-16 victory. With Socorro ahead 37-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
