The Lakeland Hawks lost against the Sandpoint Bulldogs two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lakeland took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandpoint. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakeland in their matchups with Sandpoint: they've now lost nine in a row.
Karlie Banks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sandpoint, scoring 33 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Banks has scored at least a third of Sandpoint's points. Another player making a difference was Brecken Mire, who scored six points along with five steals.
Lakeland dropped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sandpoint, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Lakeland will head out on the road to square off against Moscow at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Moscow is ranked 42nd, while Lakeland is ranked 49th). Sandpoint will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Timberlake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
