District 10 Region 1 A recap Oct. 3, 2012
Sharpsville extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 1 A this week by beating Farrell, 35-13. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Blue Devils.
Conneaut Area was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Conneaut Area defeated Conneaut 51-12 earlier in the week.
West Middlesex's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trey Staunch threw for 157 and three touchdowns and Sage Pope had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Luke Patten chipped in 135 yards. Dillon Fair helped West Middlesex's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
The Big Reds' Staunch and Pope have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Staunch has thrown for 597 yards this season, while Pope, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 18 catches for 263 yards. Blake Reddick from Lakeview leads the league in rushing with 861 yards.
The Sailors moved up to 265 from 323 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 1 A. Lakeview climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.
