The North Summit Braves posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They put the hurt on North Sevier with a sharp 63-37 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10.
North Summit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Richins led the charge by scoring eight points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Smith, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Loss or not, North Sevier got some senior leadership from Greyson Bennett and Jacob Johnson. Bennett scored 17 points along with two steals, while Johnson. scored seven points along with three steals. That was a full 45.9% of North Sevier's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
North Summit is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for North Sevier, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
North Summit will head out on the road to take on Gunnison Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Sevier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Duchesne's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
