The Banner County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Morrill, falling 61-8. Banner County has struggled against Morrill recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Banner County struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Morrill racked up 12 assists.
Morrill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinzley Hess, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Avree Blair, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Banner County's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Morrill, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Banner County will be home for the holidays to greet Cody-Kilgore on Thursday. Morrill will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hyannis at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hyannis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Morrill is ranked 67th).
