Cape Henlopen took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Laurel with a sharp 10-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Cape Henlopen considering their one-run performance the game before.
Sara Craig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alivia Longo, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Windish, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Cape Henlopen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Archmere Academy got themselves on the board against Ursuline Academy on Friday, but Ursuline Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Raiders. The Auks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Meredith Finger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Finger was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Archmere Academy got a massive performance out of Vivienne Govatos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Govatos has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Benson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Archmere Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Cape Henlopen, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
