The Diman RVT Bengals will square off against the Bay Path RVT Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Diman RVT sitting on 11 straight victories and Bay Path RVT on five.
Diman RVT's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Westport. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Carter Perreira, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Bay Path RVT got the win against Westborough on Monday by a conclusive 9-1. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Josh Hemingway made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hemingway was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jacob Delvalle was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Chase Davis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Bay Path RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Diman RVT's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season. As for Bay Path RVT, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Diman RVT has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bay Path RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Diman RVT beat Bay Path RVT 7-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
