Make it nine blowout wins for the Columbia Tigers this season. They claimed a resounding 64-26 victory over Baker County on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-14.
Leading Columbia to victory were MARIAH COX and JOLENA GARDNER. COX scored 17 points along with eight steals, while GARDNER dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. GARDNER is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was ERIEL BAKER, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Baker County still got an impressive performance from Zaniah Blake, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yamise Haygood, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
Baker County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Columbia racked up 18 assists.
Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Baker County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5.
Columbia will head out on the road to square off against Suwannee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Suwannee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Columbia is ranked 144th). As for Baker County, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Fort White at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
