The Illini West Chargers will head out on the road to  square off against  the Beardstown Tigers  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Illini West made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Brown County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Illini West blew past Brown County 19-9 on Monday. The Chargers not only won  on Monday, but they posted their biggest win  since April 22, 2024.

  Ella Shutwell was a standout: she scored two  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.  Khloe Kearns made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Kearns was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Autumn Bowman, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Ava Quigley, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 Beardstown's record is now 2-0. As for Illini West, their  victory (their first of the  season) made their record 1-2.
 Illini West was able to grind out a solid  win over Beardstown in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024, winning  15-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Illini West since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
