Jaslyn Sigaran and Lauren Castillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sigaran struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Castillo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Sigaran a new career-low. At the plate, Sigaran scored four runs, while Castillo went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Castillo a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bishop Conaty-Loretto got a massive performance out of Angelique Aguillon, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Aguillon a new career-high. Kaylah Araujo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.
Meanwhile, Bishop Montgomery came up short against Wiseburn- Da Vinci on Monday and fell 7-4.
Macey Kim was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Green, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Bishop Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Conaty-Loretto has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Bishop Montgomery struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
