The East Union Lancers will head out to challenge the Ripon Indians at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, East Union came up short against Liberty and fell 9-4. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
East Union saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fallon Norman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Jacey Jauregui also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ripon). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Tokay 14-12. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Angelina Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mikayla Dietrich was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Addison Naranjo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
Ripon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
East Union's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Ripon, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-4.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Union hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Ripon struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Ripon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Union since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
